CRG (Commercial Retail Group) Online is a specifically designed business and organisational Community Portal. CRG Online has been developed for the Commercial Retail Group which is a part of the Foodland 'family' of independent supermarket retailers within the IGA network within the surrounding suburbs of Adelaide. CRG employ almost 1000 staff members and pride themselves on providing meaningful careers.
As CRG were unique in their requirements for their Community Portal, as it needed to be accessed by staff members from numerous stores and community, we introduced increased and specialised functionality into our Community Portal to enhance the access levels and its security.
The Community Portal provides operation support to all retailers and head office and allows employees to access rosters, announcments and calender events, as well as participating in online discussions between departments and stores. It fits in perfectly with their 'green' initiative as it places much of their document storage online.
As with all of our second-generation portals, the key feature is that it is built on a dynamic open-source platform that enables users and administrators to easily and safely update key information. This Community Portal was also built to sit within the company's existing Citrix environment.
The web application has a number of parametres and mathmatical equations that work using a complicated back-end database in order to accurately show energy savings, water savings and monetary savings.
The Green Home Calculator was built using mainly PHP and is a custom component that sits within the open-source frame of a Joomla website. It also uses various javascript functions, is styled by CSS and a range of algorithyms and data manipulation techniques to ensure data is up-to-date. Once a user has calculated their savings, a PDF is created for them that gives a breakdown of their emissions savings and their monetary savings.
