Continuing our long and valued relationship for Villawood Properties, the Keyvision team was asked to re-develop the Green Home Calculator. As part of the digital re-launch of Villawood's Positive Change intiative, we were asked to create a custom web application that would allow users to not only measure their home's environmental output through CO2 emissions, but to allow people to measure real-time savings they can make by installing energy and water saving items.
The web application has a number of parametres and mathmatical equations that work using a complicated back-end database in order to accurately show energy savings, water savings and monetary savings.
The Green Home Calculator was built using mainly PHP and is a custom component that sits within the open-source frame of a Joomla website. It also uses various javascript functions, is styled by CSS and a range of algorithyms and data manipulation techniques to ensure data is up-to-date. Once a user has calculated their savings, a PDF is created for them that gives a breakdown of their emissions savings and their monetary savings.
